Probably the biggest way you can help support your library is through spreading the word to friends, relatives, neighbors, and your local politicians on the services we offer and how much they mean to you. If you feel you would like to do more, we are always happy to accept donations of time, used or new books, and money. These donations help us to purchase more of the new and popular books, movies, and audiobooks you crave, as well as improving the services we can offer to you, our patron. Donations are tax deductible.
Volunteering - Call the Chestertown branch at 410-778-3636 and speak with Karin Cowperthwait if you are interested in volunteering at the library. Or, she can put you in touch with the Friends of the Library if you are interested in helping with one of their seasonal book sales.
Friends of the Library - Another great way to get involved in helping the library is to join the Friends of the Library, an organization that holds book sales and other events to raise money, as well as acting as advocates for the library in the community, helping to get the word out about the services we provide. You can join at the door, during any of the book sales at the library, or call the library to be put in touch with a Friends of the Library Board Member. 410-778-3636.
Donating Used Books - We are always happy to accept donations of books. If donated books fit our collection development policies and fill a gap in our collection, they may be added to the collection. Others will be given to the Friends of the Library for their seasonal used book sales which help raise money for the library.
Donating New Books - We have a wish list on Amazon.com.
Monetary Donations - Please make checks payable to the Kent County Public Library and mail them to 408 High Street, Chestertown, MD 21620.
