Get a Card

Your library card allows you to borrow books, audiobooks, movies, music, and more, free of charge. You can also use it to download ebooks, stream video, and use other resources in the eLibrary.

In Person

You can apply in person at any library location. Library accounts are free to all Maryland residents, including Washington College students. For non-Maryland residents, there is an annual account fee of $10.

If you are applying in person, please photo ID with your current address on it.  If your identification does not have your current address, you may provide a piece of mail or other official document, such as a utility bill or a lease, for proof of residence.

 

Online

You can also apply for a temporary card online.

Temporary cards will eventually require proof of residence to receive a permanent card and have full borrowing privileges.
