Paws for Reading
Kids and teens will find a fantastic listener when they spend time reading to a trained dog from Pets on Wheels of Delmarva (POWD) during Paws for Reading!
Choose from a dog-friendly collection of books for all reading levels or bring a favorite book from home to share.
Each participant will have at least 10 minutes of one-on-one reading time with a canine book buddy. Depending on how many people register, you may get extra time for reading. While you're not reading to a dog, you can hang out with friends, solo read, or color.
Research shows that reading to an animal helps children gain confidence and improve reading skills.
Kids (ages 5-12)
Children under 8 must be accompanied by a responsible caregiver who is at least 13-years-old.
Teens (ages 13-17)
Registration required.
Each attendee must be registered individually.
